The Client is a global technology platform that connects passengers with drivers through its mobile app. They are known for their disruptive innovation in the transportation industry, offering ride-hailing services, food delivery, and other forms of mobility. They are currently navigating a complex project involving the rollout of 500 electric vehicles (EVs) across multiple South African metros and are seeking a project manager to support in driving this initiative to successful completion, addressing the operational challenges of fleet management, stakeholder coordination, and logistics.

  • *Key Responsibilities**:
  • *Role**: EV Fleet Rollout Project Manager
  • *Direct Report** | General Manager
  • *Deliverables**
  • Manage the EV rollout project, setting up the client team to meet the March deadline.
  • Coordinate across multiple teams, including those responsible for charging infrastructure, bike suppliers, and couriers.
  • Create and implement tracking systems to monitor project progress and performance.
  • Develop a comprehensive playbook for future electric fleet rollouts based on lessons learned from this project.
  • Proactively identify and address operational challenges, including logístical and stakeholder coordination issues.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the internal client team and external stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication and alignment of goals.
  • *Skills, Knowledge and Expertise**:
  • *Experience required**:
  • Proven experience in managing large, complex projects, particularly those involving multiple stakeholders and intricate logistics.
  • Experience with e-commerce platforms or fleet management, electric vehicle projects, or similar large-scale transportation initiatives.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate unexpected complexities and pivot resources as needed.
  • Experience in managing teams, coordinating various operational functions, and integrating different project components.
  • *Technical requirements**:
  • Ability to create detailed tracking systems and manage complex project timelines.
  • Strong knowledge of project management frameworks and tools.
  • Ability to develop comprehensive reports and operational frameworks that can be applied to future projects.
  • *Soft skills**:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Adaptability to changing project needs and the capacity to handle unexpected operational challenges.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a project with multiple moving parts, taking the mental load off the existing stretched team.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills to bring order to complex, multi-team initiatives.
  • *Working Arrangement**:
  • *Location** | Johannesburg, (preferred) or remote in South Africa with occasional travel as needed to oversee project rollout.**
  • *Operational requirements** | Full-time, with a timeline of approximately 2-3 months, with the project to be completed by the end of March.
