We are seeking a skilled Golf Cart & Small EV Technician to maintain, repair, and service electric and gas-powered golf carts and small electric vehicles (EVs). The ideal candidate will be experienced in both mechanical and electrical systems, including lithium battery technologies, small engines, and vehicle diagnostics. This role ensures all fleet vehicles operate safely and efficiently, minimizing downtime and supporting day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain electric and gas-powered golf carts and small electric vehicles.
- Read and interpret electrical diagrams, wiring schematics, and technical manuals.
- Inspect, test, and replace lithium-ion batteries, chargers, controllers, motors, and related components.
- Perform routine maintenance: oil changes, brake inspections, tire replacement, and fluid checks.
- Troubleshoot and repair small engines, electrical systems, and drive train components.
- Maintain accurate service records, repair logs, and inventory of parts and supplies.
- Provide preventative maintenance to prolong the life of fleet vehicles.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies during all repairs and maintenance.
- Assist with vehicle upgrades, retrofits, or new fleet deployments.
- Collaborate with other maintenance staff and report recurring issues or potential improvements.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or vocational training in automotive, small engine, or electric vehicle repair preferred.
- Experience: 2+ years in electric vehicle, small engine, or golf cart maintenance and repair.
- Strong understanding of lithium battery systems, DC motors, controllers, and wiring diagrams.
- Proficient in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems.
- Knowledge of safety procedures for high-voltage and lithium-powered equipment.
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams accurately.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Physical ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment and batteries.
Preferred Certifications (Optional)
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) small engine or EV certifications
- Electric Vehicle Technician Certification
- Battery Maintenance & Safety Certification
Work Environment
- Indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Hands-on work with mechanical and electrical components.
- Occasional weekend work may be required.
