Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Engineer

About the position

As an Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Engineer at Caltrans, you will play a crucial role in maintaining, improving, and installing electric vehicle (EV) charging stations throughout District 6. This position involves working on complex electrical systems and collaborating with diverse teams to advance California's sustainable transportation initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair EV charging stations and supporting infrastructure.

  • Lead system improvements and optimize the efficiency of charging stations.

  • Install electrical wiring, circuits, conduit, transformers, switchgear panels, and more.

  • Use advanced diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and resolve critical issues.

  • Train staff on EV operations and safety standards.

  • Ensure compliance with state policies on zero-emission vehicles (ZEV).

Requirements

  • Strong background in electrical systems, including experience with high-voltage (up to 550 volts) installations.

  • Hands-on experience with installing conduit, wiring, and electrical circuits.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
