Electric Vehicle Charging Technician

ABM Industries is seeking an Electric Vehicle Charging Technician in Buckeye, AZ, responsible for maintaining and repairing EV charging stations across multiple sites. Key duties include performing electrical maintenance, ensuring site safety, and providing excellent customer service. Job Description
The Electric Vehicle Charging Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining and repairing EV charging stations across multiple sites. You will be dedicated to ensuring optimal functionality and minimizing downtime while offering high levels of customer service. The key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring site safety
- Performing electrical system maintenance and repairs
- Preparing comprehensive site field reports
- Supporting operational duties as required by contractual obligations
This position focuses on a strategic account and involves independent work with minimal supervision. Candidates should have a solid foundation in electrical maintenance and troubleshooting, as well as the ability to adapt to various field conditions. Your role is vital in upholding partnerships, enhancing service uptime, and maximizing charger utilization with a proactive and urgent mindset.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise and effective de-escalation while ensuring accurate diagnostics in line with eMobility regulations and service agreements, addressing customer issues promptly and effectively.
- Utilize detailed repair manuals, service bulletins, and technical documents, engaging with clients upon the completion of services.
- Document work orders comprehensively, including all parts used and warranty records, while delivering exceptional service during each visit.
- Communicate proficiently with customers' Network Services providers, confirming that work has been completed and the equipment is back in operational condition, with an emphasis on predictive analysis and preventive maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and perform repairs and upgrades on various equipment from Level 2 EV chargers to DC Fast Chargers, including planned maintenance.
- Conduct equipment testing including insulation testing, thermal imagery, and performance evaluations.
- Identify and resolve system performance issues and isolate ground faults effectively.
- Collaborate with the eMobility Service team to adhere to maintenance schedules and optimize routing.
- Conduct site safety assessments, identify hazards, and complete necessary safety documentation as per OSHA and site-specific requirements.
- Generate professional reports for service completion utilizing the work order system for client presentation.
- Be available for planned and unplanned overtime and emergency response work.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in servicing electrical power equipment within commercial or utility energy sectors, or formal electrical/electronic training.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems. Knowledge of EV chargers and related power electronics is ideal but not mandatory.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Robust understanding of OSHA safety requirements including LOTO, Arc Flash, and Job Hazard Analysis.
- Valid driver's license.
- Experience with Salesforce is a plus.
