Electric Vehicle Traction Motor/Inverter Control Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Electric Vehicle Traction Motor/Inverter Control Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing high-performance traction motor/inverter control systems for electric vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Define HEV/EV traction inverter electrical system architecture
- Develop control algorithms such as state transition diagrams, torque control, thermal behavior estimation management, and vehicle adhesion control
- Verify and validate inverter controls software
- Ensure ISO 26262 compliance for traction inverter ECU and DFMEA
- Collaborate with the system team to identify electrical interfaces and calibration requirements
- Conduct functional testing and system/component benchmarking
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of power electronics in electric vehicles and its components
- Understanding of electric drivetrain systems, including architectures, modeling, and simulations
- Ability to model, analyze, and design inverters, motor drives, and their topologies (vector control, direct control systems)
- Experience with vehicle dynamics using MATLAB/Simulink or similar tools
- Knowledge of ISO 26262 and exposure to hybrid/electric powertrain control design, development, verification, and validation
- Familiarity with onboard diagnostics and experience in testing at controller level (HIL), motor bench, and vehicle level
- Understanding of regulations and standards for HEV/EV, such as AIS 041, AIS038, and AIS102
Desirable Qualifications
- Academic or industrial project experience related to traction motor/inverter design or simulation/testing
- Master's degree in relevant field with relevant electives
- Traction control system for electric vehicles (EV)
- Power electronics and driver controls
- Control system engineering
