Senior Systems Administrator

Role Summary

The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for installation, configuration, testing and support of multi-location network systems, applications and associated services. This individual will ensure network server and client systems fulfill user requirements and support the proper operation of business. Essential duties and responsibilities encompass application support, upgrades, system administration, virtualization administration, file services, backup administration, e-mail management, security, network peripherals, and technical documentation. This position will also be expected to provide architecture and support to the client technologies, application support and development teams along with our external vendor resources.

Role Responsibilities

· Administer and maintain Microsoft 365/Exchange services, email security, and collaboration tools

· Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate and simplify Windows administration

· Manage and optimize virtualization platforms (VMware vCenter/ESXi) for server and resource provisioning

· Implement and manage Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems, including Azure AD, SSO, MFA, and related security controls

· Configure and administer network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, routing, and core network services (DNS, DHCP)

· Support daily production incidents and environment requests, including participation in on-call rotation for high-availability environments

· Perform system upgrades, performance tuning, and resource optimization (CPU, memory, storage)

· Monitor and maintain application and service health using Splunk, SolarWinds Orion, and related tools

· Conduct technical analysis and recommend system enhancements to improve reliability and performance

· Create and maintain accurate technical documentation for enterprise infrastructure

Qualifications

Years of Relevant Experience

· At least 7-10 years’ experience as a System administrator or Network administrator in a mid- to-large sized company or in an enterprise environment.

· At least 7-10 years of experience with architecting, implementing, managing and monitoring core IT Infrastructure and services.

Education

· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field

· Master’s degree in CS or related field

· Networking & Infrastructure: Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS/DHCP, firewalls, routing and switching, and network troubleshooting, Cisco Meraki and Huawei

· Microsoft 365 Administration: Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune, and security/compliance features

· Virtualization & Cloud: VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, container platforms (Docker/Kubernetes), and exposure to AWS/Azure environments

· Identity & Access Management: Okta, Azure AD, Active Directory SSO/IAM, MFA, and modern access solutions

· Monitoring & Security: Splunk, SCCM, Orion/SolarWinds, Wireshark/tcpdump, and SIEM tools

· Professional Skills: Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting, clear communication, and effective collaboration across teams

Work Flexibility

· Accommodation for working time zone differences between international locations as needed

· Travel is estimated to be 10-25%.

· Role requires flexibility in daily schedule, including early morning meetings with Europe, evenings for the West Coast, and weekends for events and travel

In Silicon Valley (California), the salary range for this role will be $155,000 - $185,000, depending on education and years of relevant experience. Salary is determined by geographical location and adjusted accordingly.
