Fleet Maintenance Manager

EV.Careers is currently seeking a full-time Fleet Maintenance Manager for one of our partners, that is a mobility and infrastructure services company focused on turnkey solutions for clients such as technology companies, manufacturers, railroads, universities, corporate business parks, hospitals, airports, and public transportation agencies. In this position, you will lead maintenance operations and ensure optimal performance and reliability of a primarily diesel fleet while managing a team of maintenance professionals in a fast-paced transportation environment. This is the swing shift, so expect to work weekends and nights.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of 2-3 maintenance professionals, including a shop foreman/lead mechanic.
- Provide direct leadership, mentorship, and scheduling oversight for all shop staff.
- Effectively balance hands-on mechanical work with team management, adapting to operational needs.
- Oversee comprehensive maintenance and repair operations for a predominantly diesel vehicle fleet.
- Ensure all vehicles consistently meet rigorous safety and performance standards through diligent preventive maintenance programs.
- Manage critical aspects of shop operations, including parts inventory, accurate repair documentation, and optimizing equipment availability.
- Monitor fleet health and minimize downtime to guarantee maximum operational efficiency.
- Utilize RTA software proficiently for precise tracking of maintenance activities and comprehensive fleet data management.
- Provide essential after-hours and weekend support to ensure uninterrupted operational continuity.
- Maintain strict compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) and company safety policies.
- Conduct thorough inspections and audits to verify all vehicles are fully road-ready.
- Implement robust safety protocols and champion a proactive, safety-first culture within the shop environment.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience managing a fleet maintenance shop, with a strong focus on diesel vehicles.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, particularly in managing small teams.
- Adept at both hands-on mechanical work and effective team leadership.
- Proficient with maintenance software platforms.
- Essential mechanical or diesel experience.
- Ability to work a swing shift and provide after-hours/weekend support as needed.
- Occasional travel to San Jose may be required.
