Technical Trainer (Electric Vehicle / Automotive Technician)

Pelican Bus & Coach is the official UK and Ireland importer and distributor for YUTONG Buses and Coaches. Based near Leeds, the company is wholly owned by Pelican Engineering Co. Ltd, established in 1919. Pelican is a successful family business employing over 180 people across multiple sites and is committed to the continuous development of people.

We are currently seeking a Technical Trainer (Adults) to deliver high-quality automotive training. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a diverse suite of training courses at our Castleford training centre.

You will need to have an automotive background and hold relevant qualifications aligned with the training courses we deliver.

The Role

  • Deliver a wide range of technical training courses to internal and external clients.
  • Work collaboratively with Pelican Engineering teams to support internal training needs.
  • Engage with clients to assess training requirements and tailor delivery accordingly.
  • Ensure all training is aligned with industry best practice and awarding organisation standards.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the automotive sector.
  • Technical qualification to Level 3 in Light or Heavy Vehicle Engineering / Technician.
  • Experience delivering technical training (ideally holding a professional teaching or training qualification, or willing to work towards one).
  • Confident communicator with strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Flexible and willing to travel, including staying away from home when required.
  • Automotive High Voltage, IRTEC, Refrigerant Handling, and ADAS qualifications (desirable).
  • Excellent teaching skills across various training formats.
  • Creative and solution-focused, with a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Strong planning and organisational abilities.
  • Skilled at building effective professional relationships and managing people.
  • Able to manage time effectively and prioritise workload under pressure.
  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.
  • Motivated team player with a willingness to develop professionally.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £33,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
