Job Description
POD is seeking a driven civil or electrical designer to support the design and deployment of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. This role is critical to helping accelerate the transition to sustainable transportation by developing effective design solutions for public, commercial, and fleet EV charging sites. This position necessitates an effective communicator comfortable pursuing self-education and navigating a dynamic and growing team environment.
Essential Functions
- Design and/or draft detailed civil and electrical design drawings, including site plans, equipment selection and placement, and electrical infrastructure routing.
- Work closely with project managers, electrical engineers, civil engineers, and construction teams to support seamless project delivery.
- Collaborate with Utility Companies to coordinate extension of electrical distribution infrastructure and finalized utility design.
- Incorporate feedback from Authorities Having Jurisdiction (ADHs) and external stakeholders to refine designs.
- Manage scheduling and responsibilities of construction material testing and special inspections firms for projects around the U.S.
- Evaluates designs for overall effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety.
- Adhere to applicable Quality Control procedures.
- Provide accurate project status reporting to facilitate accurate customer reporting.
- Assist in the development of engineering tools, project management software and processes.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree, Civil Engineering preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil-3D
- Experience with small commercial civil site design preferred
- Interest in renewable energy and energy infrastructure
- A desire to learn and grow professionally
- 0-5 years experience
