Role Summary
This role is for a Sr. Manufacturing Engineering Technician II on our Battery Pilot Team. This role supports production development of our current and future builds for vehicle battery packs. We currently work directly with multiple cross functional teams to provide test assets for vehicle and program development. Pilot Battery Packs are built in Tustin CA on a semi-manual production line where we also support trials for future production intended equipment. This role is located in Tustin, CA and reports directly to the Sr. Manufacturing Engineering Lead.
Responsibilities
- Lead area level support the Prototype Manufacturing Engineering team in building complex mechanical and electrical assemblies
- Ability to create engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, diagrams, and written descriptions
- Highly detail oriented and be able to create reports and record project build data both at the part level and system level
- Maintain a clean and professional workspace
- Help the team balance and prioritize multiple tasks
- Design, fabricate, and/or modify existing prototype components/fixtures
- Provide feedback and suggestions to new and/or improved workshop standards, protocols, and processes
- Keep the lab space organized and equipped with supplies with a future state vision for your area
- Build, collaborate, and set up test rigs for mechanical and electrical tests across multiple teams
- Works a flexible schedule as required for executing projects
Qualifications
- Associate degree, trade school, military technical training or equivalent experience
- 4-6+ years as an Engineering Technician or similar role
- 4-6+ years of experience with relevant technologies such as transmissions, electric motors, E-Axle, or IC engines
- Expertise in technologies such as sensors, electronics, controls, pneumatics, valves, and mechanisms
- Exposure to end of line testing, dyno controls, and other testing scenarios
- Understand wiring diagrams, schematics, assembly drawings, mechanical component drawings
- Understanding of 5S in the workplace
- Technical desire and aptitude to learn new products and teach or mentor others
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic workshop etiquette, shop safety, and provide verbal and written communication across multiple departments
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to variety of technologies
- Advanced knowledge of computers and Productivity tools (Microsoft Office, Google, etc)
- Mastery of mechanical fabrication tools such as drill presses, saws, mills, hand tools, etc
Pay Disclosure
Hourly Rate for SoCal Based Applicants: $33.31-$41.63 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premium
