Program Structure and Responsibilities
Receive comprehensive, structured on-the-job training in the diagnosis and repair of electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). Learn to safely handle high-voltage electrical systems, battery management systems, and charging infrastructure. Master diagnostic procedures for electric and hybrid powertrains, including motors, inverters, and regenerative braking systems. Develop proficiency in using specialized diagnostic tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and scan tools specific to EVs and HEVs. Perform routine maintenance services, such as battery coolant checks, tire rotations, and brake inspections, with an emphasis on EV/HEV specific components. Assist senior technicians in complex repairs, gaining exposure to a wide range of vehicle makes and models. Adhere strictly to safety protocols, particularly concerning high-voltage systems and personal protective equipment. Attend regular training sessions and workshops to stay updated on emerging electric vehicle technologies. Develop strong customer service skills by interacting with clients regarding vehicle service needs and explanations. Contribute to a clean, organized, and efficient workshop environment. Progress through defined skill levels, demonstrating competency in various diagnostic and repair tasks. Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. A strong mechanical aptitude and a genuine passion for automotive technology, especially electric and hybrid vehicles. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies. Must possess a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. Physical ability to perform the tasks associated with automotive repair, including lifting and working in various positions. A commitment to completing the full duration of the apprenticeship program. Prior experience or coursework in automotive technology is beneficial but not required.
